Instagram looks to reduce the Sense of Competition by Hiding Like Counts

Instagram is aiming to reduce competition among users by hiding like counts on the posts.

We found out this through Instagram’s android application which was stated as quoting something like the following:

“We want your followers to focus on what you share; not how many likes your posts get. During this test, only the person who shared a post will see the total number of likes it gets.”

This shows about the new upgrade which Instagram is testing across different parts of the world at the moment.

After this update, you will be able to see how the total like count is removed and you will now also find a link to viewing the total likes received on the upload.

When the user will click on the link of View Likes he would be able to see the total number of likes his posts has and also the individual users who have liked the posts.

This information would be only visible to the person who has posted it but other users would not be able to see that information. People will be able to see the particular posts which the users they follow likes but they would not be able to see the total like counts.

It has been confirmed byInstagram’s officials that this design is being worked on internally but it is not visible to the public as of now.

There are chances that this update will come up after an official release and there are also chances that it would not be released officially.

By this update, Instagram experiences would be improved in a number of ways. The whole experience of using Instagram would be now more organic by hiding the like counts.

This would let people share more whatever they want rather then they were focused on the posts which would bring them more likes.

People with this update would feel less inclined towards deleting a post if it is not bringing the threshold of likes which were expected.

It seems like a healthy move to everyone by turning Instagram into less popularity in the form of content.
